2º Festival de Tango de Capri

Luego de la exitosa experiencia de 2007, el Festival de Tango de Capri prepara su segunda edición con justificado optimismo. Más de 500 personas de 18 países participaron el año pasado del encuentro en la paradisíaca isla del sur italiano. Los turistas–bailarines pudieron tomar clases de baile con prestigiosos docentes, practicar en milongas al aire libre, observar exhibiciones de alto vuelo y nadar en un mar tan azul y tan calmo que inspiró a escritores de diferentes siglos.
ENTRE el 5 y el 8 de junio próximos la magia promete repetirse con nuevos matices. En principio, se sumará un día al calendario. El director del festival, Luca Ferrari, convocó para este año a los docentes Julio Balmaceda y Corina de la Rosa, Pablo Inza y María Mondino, y Ney Melo y Jennifer Bratt como maestros, a los que se sumarán Bruno Tombari y Mariángeles Caamaño, Diana del Valle y Juan Carmelingo y Marcela Guevara con Stefano Guidice como invitados especiales.
Consultado por sobre el criterio de elección, Luca respondió: “Pienso que el tango tiene hoy diferentes facetas. Por eso, invitar a 3 parejas de diferentes estilos es decir: ‘esto es el tango actual, podés elegir lo que más te guste’”.
Milena Plebs será este año madrina del encuentro y dará una clase sobre adornos femeninos. “Estoy orgulloso de que sea mi amiga”, se ufana Ferrari. Por otro lado, el principal espacio para las actividades nocturnas será este año el cautivante Certosa Di San Giacomo, monasterio de 1371 en el que actualmente funcionan un museo, una escuela y una biblioteca.
Uno de los rasgos que caracterizan al Festival de Capri es la intensidad del aprendizaje. Durante 4 días los inscriptos tendrán a su disposición un menú de 10 clases en el balneario Canzone di Mare. Cada clase tendrá una temática propia y están diseñadas para todos los niveles. Quienes estén interesados en profundizar sus conocimientos dentro de un grupo reducido podrán participar de 2 seminarios a dictarse en el elegante loft Opificio, de la vecina ciudad de Nápoles. Durante el día de las últimas 3 jornadas, habrá una milonga playera musicalizada por diferentes DJs locales. A la caída del sol surgirá otro espacio más formal para practicar: una milonga con exhibiciones de las parejas docentes a razón de 4 por noche. Una serie de paquetes promocionales incluyen alojamiento de categorías a elección.
La comunidad local recibió con sorprendente entusiasmo la iniciativa de Luca. “Y no es por el número de visitantes, Capri recibe siempre muchísimos turistas, es porque quedaron enamorados del tango”, asegura. Un espíritu de fiesta cada vez más universal. Así define Ferrari la forma que asume una vez al año en Capri: “El nuestro es un verdadero evento de tango, un excelente motivo para bailar, aprender, nadar y encontrarse en uno de los lugares más bellos del mundo”. –Carlos Bevilacqua •

After the successful experience of 2007, the Festival of Tango of Capri prepares its second edition with justified optimism. More than 500 people from18 countries participated last year in the heavenly southern Italian island. The tourists/dancers were able to take dance classes with prestigious teachers, practice in outdoor milongas, watch high quality exhibitions and swim in a sea so blue and calm that it inspired writers from different centuries.
BETWEEN next June 5 and 8 the magical promises will be repeated with new nuances. In principle, one more day has been added to the calendar. The director of the festival, Luca Ferrari, summoned this year Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Pablo Inza and María Mondino, and Ney Melo and Jennifer Bratt as teachers, with Bruno Tombari and Mariángeles Caamaño, Diana del Valle and Juan Carmelingo and Marcela Guevara with Stefano Guidice as special guests.
Consulted about the criteria used for the selection, Luca responded: “I think that tango has different facets. Therefore, to invite 3 couples with different styles is to say: 'This is current tango, you can choose what you like the most”.
Milena Plebs will be the godmother of this year’s encounter and will teach a class on embellishments for women. “I feel proud because she is my friend”, boasts Ferrari. On the other hand, this year the main space for the night activities will be the captivating Certosa Di San Giacomo, a monastery from1371 that is currently the home of a museum, a school and a library.
One of the things that characterize the Festival of Capri is the intensity of the learning. During 4 days the registrants will have a menu of 10 classes at the resort Canzone di Mare. Each class will have a subject of its own and the classes are designed for all levels. Those interested in deepening their know-how within a small group will be able to participate in 2 seminars to be taught in the elegant Opificio loft, of the neighboring city of Naples. During the last 3 days, there will be day practicas at the beach set to music by different local DJs. After sundown another more formal space will be provided to practice: a milonga with exhibitions by the teaching couples at the rate of 4 per night. A series of promotional packages include lodging of different categories.
The local community received with surprising enthusiasm Luca’s initiative. “And it is not for the number of visitors, Capri receives a lot of tourists, it is because they fell in love with tango”, he declares. An increasingly more universal party spirit: this is how Ferrari defines the character that Capri assumes once a year: “Ours is a true tango event, an excellent motive to dance, to learn, to swim and to spend time in one of the most beautiful places of the world”. –Carlos Bevilacqua •
